Position: HVAC Systems Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Designer

HVAC & Plumbing Mechanical Engineering consulting services firm actively seeks HVAC Systems Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Designer to join our Sacramento, CA office.

Relevant Skills & Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 2+ years of relevant work experience within a Mechanical Engineering Consulting or Mechanical Contracting firm
Exhibits thorough understanding of applicable codes
Design mechanical systems
Load calculations
Equipment selection
Analysis of equipment energy use for optimizing systems selection
Developing system narratives (writing, organizing the document, develop images)
Coordinate mechanical system design with architects and other disciplines
Excellent communication skills: articulate, assertive and confident
Proficient working in AutoCAD and Revit
Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills
Interact and work with diverse set of clients and subcontractors

Desired Skills and Experiences:

Current PE registration, preferred " Will also consider E.I.T. in lieu of P.E.
LEED AP, highly preferred
Proficient in design and calculation software; MS Excel and Word
Possesses basic understanding of proper system selection and determination of project design solutions
The ability to work in a fast paced environment without compromising quality or accuracy
Exhibits self-disciplined approach to establishing priorities to meet multiple concurrent deadlines both for themselves, and others

HVAC Systems Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Designer Role and Responsibilities:

Will assist in the design of HVAC and mechanical systems for predominately K-12 and higher education projects. Other project experience is desirable. Responsibilities and job requirements include, but are not limited to:

Experience in K-12 and Higher Education design or other similar technical design
Provide HVAC system design and layout utilizing AutoCAD and Revit, including coordination with all disciplines
Load calculations, equipment selection, and other related design tasks under the guidance of the Project Manager and other senior technical staff
HVAC system design and drawing preparation under the direction of the Project Manager, system narratives, and system layouts for a variety of project types and sizes
Ability to design various HVAC system types under the guidance of the Project Manager, including packaged rooftop, split systems, VAV, displacement ventilation, 4-pipem VRF, makeup air, etc.
Work closely with the internal design team as well as external clients and consultants including owners, builders, developers, program managers, contractors, architects, vendors, etc.
May assist Project Managers or senior designers in the on-going determination of project scheduling requirements, resource requirements, and project budgets
Perform construction administration and field investigation tasks for assigned projects including conducting field inspections and subsequent detailed inspection reports
Individuals in this position must demonstrate the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team
May assist the Project Manager or senior designer in processing RFIs, Change Orders, Bulletins, etc.
Must take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you.
Solid time management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
High level of proficiency, acute attention to detail
